Seeing more, thinking more

Another trip. I cannot choose the right word to describe my feelings. It was a nice break from school, and a great oppurtunity to experience France.

To me, going on a trip is not only visiting the place itself, but also interacting with the atmosphere, feelings, and so many other things that cannot be listed here within one page. Seeing unique scenery of different parts of world, hearing their noises, smelling the air, and tasting the culture is what I crave for. When you exchange your feeling with the place and start to think more from it, there starts the trip and there exists my very own meaning of the trip. So, there I was, visiting the city that keeps romance, art, and a history. Paris.

Paris, loved by those who worship its romantic atmosphere, and hated by those loathe the unfriendly environment, was the first destination of the trip.

Seeing how people live and think differently on the other side of the world is always interesting. I am always intrigued by those 'commonly unique' difference between people. Kids going home with their parents, friends enjoying a coffee at a cafe, lovers gently kissing each other... all very common activities. It is actually not that different from any other major cities such as New York or London in aspect of the busy life and big population. However amongst all the common things, uniqueness like people speaking French, artists painting the Notre Dame Cathedral, painting hung on the Orsay, the old metro and all the cafes around the corner tell me that I am now in Paris.

Sometimes I think that we lose our true naive view towards the world we live in. The way we look at the world is manipulated, biased as we age and experience. Looking at kids, contemplating at river, people, out the window, I always wonder how they see the world and how I saw the world back then. Perhaps that is why people go on a trip. To see the world as they saw it back in the old times with pure eyes. To remember, that they used to see the world as it is, appriciate its beauty, and recognize that they still can look at world in a good way. I really appriciated the night view of Paris, it is in such a vivid changing color, just like that of the impressionists' paintings. Like their effort to depict the changing colors and its beauty reflected from the light, it was constantly changing and I tried not to miss a moment of it. Then the city flew into the darkness where the lights, cafes, the river, the eiffel tower, Parisiens and wandering travellers existed. It was time to go back to the hostel and get ready for the other journey already. For another eye-opening experience.
